| | Why Diving Puerto Galera and Sabang Puerto Galera offers some of the best diving in Asia, more variety than The Great Barrier Reef. Suitable dives for all ability levels. Education from Bubble maker (for kids) to PADI Open Water to Instructor level courses any day of the week. Nitrox, Technical and Rebreather instruction and diving are available in many of the uncountable Diveshops.
With a large number of Resorts and Hotels in Sabang everybody finds something for his wallet. The Party people stay in Sabang and enjoy the nightlife there. It is a 5 Minute footwalk to Small Lalaguna. Where it is quieter in the evening time. You find there some of the best Restaurants in Puerto Galera. Just try the cusine of Antoine, the french chef at El Galleon and don't foreget to drop by the Point Bar for the Happy hour and a cold San Miguel Beer while watchin a breath-taking Sunset.
Where is your favourite Hangout in Puerto Galera?
cheers

| | Puerto Galera I was two times in Puerto Galera, 05 and 07. There was the typhoon in 2006 and the differences are significant. Even the corals are growing very fast in she shallow, there was some serious damage done. I plan to visit the Philippines again this year, but I am undecided where to go. With the dollar-Peso exchange rate at present, I need to think twice where to spend my money. Maybe I can get some advice here.
I am into macro, but don't mind corals or bigger stuff. Some nightlife would be fine as I don't want to hang around in only one resort for 14 days. Looking forward for your advices.
keep kicking

| | diving in the philippines If you wanna see different destinations, try the Visayas, short distances between the Islands make traveling easy with plenty of ferries inbetween the islands and you don't need to fly and loose a day Off-gasing...

| | | Puerto Galera - Macro HI there,
the macro life in PG is indeed very good.
starting fron small sweet philippinas, to small but plenty corall-destroying and reef-jumping Koreans and small portions in the restaurants...
I personally think that there is a bad development in PG with the money coming in from rich Korean investors...
sorry, just my opinion |

| | | I was already in PG some 10 years ago and frequently coming back, it is really sad to see the development there. Some older resorts and dive-shops fighting against this, but it seems they have not much chance against the money-flood of some rich Koreans |

| | I can't disagree but PG is still worth a visit. You just need to be more careful at what time of the year. (no public holidays in Asia) |

| | | Hi Out there,
I am Rambutan, a Manila Expat and diver.
I just came from PG, I guess it was my 20th visit there or so. I stood this time at Garden of Eden (even I am not swiss austrian or german). A great place to stay, nice staff. Iguess they were quite happy that somebody could speak proper English unlike most of the germans like they told me.
As a single I enjoy the day and nightdiving there. The over-presence of Koreans in the small town was a bit annoying. The weather was not good. seems that the rainy season starts way earlier this year.
The diving with other operators is a bit more concinient for me and the boats there are to small for the amount of people need to go on it. As I had no Buddy this time (not for diving) I joined another group and did a kind of solo-diving, what means following just in viewing distance. I appreciate that the operator allowed me that.
All in all a place I can recommend
see you
