Diving in Malapascua is worldwide know for the chances to watch Thresher Sharks and Manta Rays
. The tiny Island is just of the northtip of Cebu in the central Visayas.
But Malapascua is much more than Thresher Sharks. Many divespots have been explored in the last few years and local dive operators seachring frequently for new divesites around the Island.
The small Island is only 2.5 km long and 1 km wide. The south east coasl of Malapascua has white sandy beaches while the other side has a rocky coastline which makes the Island even more interesting
Diving with one of the Dive Shops in Malapascua is very easy, as they all have own Bankas in front of the Shop or the Resort. Next to the favourite Monad Shoal with it's Thresher Sharks and Manta Rays, Gato Island seems to be the favourite of most divers.
Malapascua offers also some great Macro-Spots. Especially the shallow late afternoon dive at the Lighthouse Reef is very famous. It is a safe bet to find there Mandarin Fish performing their interesting mating dance.
Malapascua is also a great place for Enriched Air Diver. Many divesites are below 20 meters, that Nirtox diver are getting full benefit of their mix.
Non-divers may enjoy a quiet holiday with a lot of lazy beaching, tropical cocktails a great food.
Be aware that brownout's are still happening on Malapascua. Not all Resorts of the Island running on generator power. Don't forget to bring local cash as you may encounter problems to change big notes.
